A Touch of Glass Double-O glass dildo review

I was mainly attracted to the Double-O because of the colour. It’s a beautiful rich bottle green and when you hold it up to the sunshine it almost shimmers, it projects streams of lime green light onto the walls and if there were a way to keep it suspended in mid-air, like a classy version of one of those very early 2000′s hanging decorations that all my friends had stuck to their bedroom ceilings – I was jaw-clenchingly jealous of everyone who had those because my mum wouldn’t let me ‘wreck our house for the sake of a glitterball’ – GOD, mum – or maybe keep it perched regally on two tall pillars of glass? Pyrex? I would. Unfortunately I’m not clever enough to make either of those wildly impractical things so I just have to keep it in the lovely teal storage bag it came with. I can’t stress enough how ENTHUSED I am about it coming with a storage bag. I’m so over having to buy my own bags for things.

The Double-O is fairly slim, and measures just shy of 8 inches long. It’s got a distinct bend to it, each textured half curves upwards and with the bulbous ends it’s no surprise that it’s marketed mainly as a g-spot stimulator. The two textures each provide different sensations – one side has large, evenly spaced bumps, and the other a long, slender swirl. I’m not going to say it’s butt safe because it doesn’t have a flared base – I guess you could count the opposing bulb as a barrier of some kind, but I wouldn’t risk it. We all know how I feel about buttholes.

The Double-O surprised me in that I actually prefer the end with the swirls over the lumpy bumpy end. I’ve never actually owned a toy with swirls like this on before – is that weird? do I get my texture slut card revoked for admitting that? – and I love the ones on this dildo. The bumps are perfectly fine too, don’t get me wrong, they’re not abrasive or unpleasant by any means – slightly bigger and spaced further apart than the ones on my beloved Octopussy, and the curve of the Double-O means that it works way better for external stimulation than most straight toys do, and I prefer the bumpy end for that over the swirly end, but when it comes down to actually sticking this in myself – I choose the swirly/curly/twisty end every time.

The swirls are slim, but raised just high enough off the surface that I can feel really feel ‘em. This is a bit of a novelty to me – the one remotely curly dildo I previously owned was the Icicles 29, which has a swirly texture but it’s like, engraved into the surface of the toy as opposed to raised off it. It was disappointing. Anyway, the far superior twisty end of the Double-O does…things to my insides. Really good things. It doesn’t do anything particularly innovative, it doesn’t rub up on my g-spot like the Cush or Comet wand do – it just feels really, really good.

I also found out that I can do this SUPER COOL THING with the Double-O – I can rotate it! It’s long enough to have room for my hand on the bumpy end (I was going to say ‘whichever end I’m not using’ but c’mon, when am I ever using the lumpy end inside of me, my love for the swirl is strong and unyielding), and if I pull my knees up or lie with my butt up, face down in the pillow I can turn rotate it in small circles, much like you would with one of those dildos with the tiny handles on and it. Feels. Incredible. Even if I do feel a bit like a sexy version of one of those wind-up dolls while I’m doing it. The one thing I have to watch out for when doing my rotate-y thing is trying to avoid getting lube all over the other end, but I guess this is where latex gloves would come in handy.

Speaking of my g-spot, the Double-O doesn’t work for me as a toy specifically for g-spot stim. It should do – look at those bulbs! Feeeeeeeel the firmness! But it doesn’t, and that’s okay. Not every toy is going to do that for me. It does provide some stimulation, but I can’t seem to angle it right to get any more out of it. It’s just not a g-spot toy for me, it’s no Cush or Comet wand, but nor is my Tantus Splash, and I love that thing so much I think it might actually be the one sex toy I’d save if my house were on fire. Everything else feels so good that I can overlook that.

I can’t shake the feeling that the reflection of a DSLR would look much more impressive than my phone.

Cleaning’s a bit of a pain, as with all textured glass dildos, and I swear this glass picks up fingerprints more easily than any other glass toy I have. Maybe it’s because it’s higher quality or maybe it’s something to do with clarity or maybe it’s just the dark green showing up my greasy prints more than say, a clear or pastel toy.

I really can’t recommend them highly enough, and they have a huge array of toys to choose from! Also, they package their toys exceptionally well – mine was sent to me in a box literally filled to the brim with polystyrene pellets, which exploded out of the box when I cut it open and gave the cat her very own 30 second mini-festival. Although I am still finding them behind my desk, which probably says more about my cleaning skillz than anything.

Icicles Rose (no. 12) glass dildo review

I’m going to be totally honest and say that the Icicles rose doesn’t really appeal to me aesthetically, it actually kind of reminds me of those cheap mock-Murano sculptures you find in like, the Home section of Sainsburys. But when I’m looking at something to stick in my vagina I’m not that concerned about whether I’d want to leave it out my bookshelf or not – although, coincidentally, I have done that. And everyone knew what it was, probably because they know me well enough to twig that I’d never buy something that looked like this unless it served a higher purpose.

The Rose is nearly eight inches long and fairly slim but it has a bunch of differing measurements thanks to all those bulbs – the girthiest part, the bud, measures 5″ around, the middle bulb 4″ around, and the bottom bulb 5″ again. The skinny bit, the stem I guess, thins out to 1″ directly under the bud and the piece above the fattest bottom bulb is 2″. It’s completely straight, has a flared base, no g-spot or p-spot bend, and any texture is restricted to the bud, which has sculpted petal detailing that’s good for clit stimulation. Allegedly.

I get pink around the ears whenever something (usually a dildo) gets ‘great for clit stim’ slapped on it because it has a tiny bit of texture, it just seems redundant – like, it’s not exactly a Herculean feat, I could probably rub a Tropicana bottle on my clit and it’d feel good. Mmmmm, nodules.To take advantage of those textured petals I had to basically twirl this thing on my clit, which makes me feel like a fucking idiot if nothing else. The payoff isn’t worth the embarrassment I felt when my girlfriend was watching me jiggle this thing on my vulva like I was practising for some kind of obscene rhythmic gymnastics routine.

The Rose feels like such a non-event inside of me that it’s not even funny. I get angry when I think about the total lack of an impression this piece of glass left on me. There’s no curve to it and if I want it to rub up on my g-spot I have to angle it in a way that makes my hand cramp and it’s just not worth the effort, like, I have toys that hit my g-spot without even trying, what’s the point? Why am I deluding myself into thinking that this is one day going to feel good for me? The girth is inconsistent and I get nothing from the smooth bulbs, not that I can fully take advantage of them – the curse of the short vag strikes again and I can’t get beyond the second one. I truly have no idea why it feels this boring because it’s trying SO HARD and like, I love texture, this should’ve worked for me! I’m simultaneously upset for and offended by the Rose. I’ve tried everything! I’ve pinned my ankles behind my ears for this thing!

It’s not tooooootally useless – as someone who likes plugs but not actual phallic objects in their butt, this is a nice middle ground and the bulbs actually feel vaguely enjoyable this way. I don’t like the way the petals feel but I don’t like ‘em on my vag either and I generally keep my butt a texture-free zone (you better cut, file and buff your fingernails before you go down there, js) so this isn’t surprising. It still makes me mad to look at though, like, how can something try this hard and be this mediocre? Who allowed this to happen? I want to speak to the manager.

I don’t even know what to say. Maybe this is one of these things where context is super important and it feels 10x better when someone else is using it on you and they’ve bought it for you as a touching anniversary/v-day/birthday gift. Maybe it’s just my vag. Maybe it’s actually as boring as I think it is. Either way, I won’t know because I’ve returned it, and I’ve never been more grateful for Lovehoney’s returns policy.

Review – Icicles No 24 tentacle glass dildo

The tentacle was my first glass toy and as much as I adore this thing, I wish I’d chosen something else. See, when I bought it I wasn’t that aware of how little give glass has – like, duh, obviously, it’s fucking glass – but having never held a glass toy in real life and having only a minimal idea of how heavy and firm they are, I went ahead and bought it anyway because #yolo, I guess.

As soon as I got it out of the box (which I don’t have anymore, but anyone familiar with Pipedream’s other vibrators, dildos, etc, will know what they look like – they’re very handy and I wish I’d kept mine) I was lovestruck. The beautiful translucent pink, the attention to detail, the whole thing was just awe-inspiring. And of course, all of that went to hell when I tried to use it and realised I’d bitten off way more than I could chew. It hurt, it was uncomfortable, I banished it back to its box and it sat in storage for months. Until I bought another, much smoother, glass dildo, and then another, this time a slightly curved one, and another, this time one with a lumpy bumpy graduated shaft. And I decided to give it a go again.

The tentacle offers different sensations depending on which side of it you’re using, both for clitoral and internal stimulation. The top side (so the side that faces up when you rest it on its little curly tail) has two rows of circular nodules and a slight dip, a long split, down the centre of the dildo, and the bottom side (curly tail side up) has a raised ribbed texture, almost like veins. The tentacle works really fucking well for clit stimulation – did anyone else do the pillow humping thing when they were younger? – like, really, the bottom side of this dildo is perfect for that. Just lie it on a pillow and rub yourself over it.

The upper side I don’t use as much for external stimulation because the lumps on it can pull a little at my inner labia, but I’m not saying that side’s unusable for clit stim, not by far – heated in a bowl of warm water beforehand, slathered in the slickest lube, with someone else holding it by the tail and just lightly, slowly, dragging it between your thighs – it’s dreamy. The stuff of not-shitty lesbian erotica novels, it makes your head feel like it’s full of fluffy sunset clouds and candyfloss. Might make you drool too, if you’re anything like me.

I’ve already touched on it but using this internally is intense. I’m sensitive to texture, and all the lovely lumps and bumps on this combined with the firmness of the glass is almost too much for me. Almost. I’m glad it’s not girthier (it’s 5 inches around in the middle, 6 inches long) as I think it’d be straight up painful if it were any larger. The shape of it’s funny, it’s not completely round, it’s got the dip in the middle and an upturned tip and if you look at it head on (nose on?) it’s actually more of a rounded square shape. It doesn’t mess around and start off gentle either, there are two little nobbles right on the nose of it, so a copious amount of lube is required with this toy; some glass toys I can get away with using minimal amounts with, but this is not one of them. Warming them up beforehand is my personal preference with glass toys but I honestly feel like it helps me deal with the amount of texture on this dildo. I just feel like it’s far easier to use when it’s around body temperature.

Internally, I prefer using the side with the nodules facing up. They roll ever so gently against the top wall of my vagina, and tilting it causes the little upturned nose to rub at my gspot…it’s one of those toys where you start off slowly because you want to go easy on yourself but you end up panting and unable to see straight, frantically rotating it, thrusting it hard and shallow. It’s addictive. This is why I love the little tail handle – it has the nodules on the outside just like the rest of it does, and I’m convinced this is why I haven’t lost my grip on it once. I love glass but jesus christ, the amount of times I’ve lost my pace just as I’ve been about to orgasm because my grip’s slipped is rage-inducing.

I’ve not tried this for butt stuff and I don’t intend to, my butt, unlike my vag, doesn’t like texture and I think trying to put something like this up there would be nightmarish, and I’m not even 100% sure on whether it’s safe for that? Can anyone enlighten me? It doesn’t have a flared base but there is the curly handle…but it’s very, very slippery when lubed up and I wouldn’t want to risk it myself. Just thinking about it is making my eyes water. Let’s not.

One negative – I dread cleaning this thing. Lube and other…fluids*…get stuck in between the ribs, clog up the central split and attach themselves to the nodules, this is definitely a ‘get it in the sink with the baby toothbrush NOW’ job. But it looks so pretty and shiny and almost shimmery afterwards, you might not even mind that much.

This toy made me a texture slut and spawned an urge to try every other tentacle shaped dildo out there, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have nothing more to say, I fucking love it and if it ever breaks or goes missing or something equally tragic happens to it, I’ll be buying a new one asap. You should probably get one. Crystal Heart Wavy glass dildo review

I bought this from Lovehoney after having lusted after it for nearly a year, and it arrived as usual, well packed in discreet brown cardboard packaging. It comes in a slim box with an image of the dildo itself on the outside. After opening it, I found that instead of the usual storage bag it comes in a lovely frosted display case that is shown in the picture above! I initially thought this case was made of frosted glass due to the thickness and feel of it, but much to my surprise, it’s plastic. The case is a nice touch, the frosted finish blurs the dildo from the outside and it really just resembles a pretty jar – just try and keep people from looking inside of it!

The dildo itself has a 5.85″ shaft with three bulbs that start off small and elongated and get progressively rounder and fatter. The tip is tapered, and it has a flattened base with the pink glass heart sculpted on top of it, which enables it to be safely used for anal play. It’s a gorgeous piece – it looks like some kind of magic wand (the fictional fairy princess kind, not the mains-powered kind), or a bizarre lollipop, or maybe an x-rated Sailor Moon accessory? It’s probably the least intimidating sex toy I’ve ever seen, despite being made of a thick glass.

All of my glass toys prior to this one have been reasonably textured but this one’s smooth and sleek and probably one of the tamer looking ones I own. It’s slim, but the graduated bulbs make for a fuller feeling when you insert it deeper, and if you love texture (like me!) and miss feeling various nodules and swirls and lumps and bumps, then inserting it up to the length of the second bulb, then pulling it back, then in again, and back, and in…you get the picture…is extremely satisfying. I have found that the slightly tapered tip of the dildo can make for some uncomfortable pokey sensations when I tilt it too far upwards – I wasn’t able to stimulate my g-spot properly with this, like I’ve been able to with a few other dildos, and I think this is down to it being (apart from the bulbs) totally straight. As glass has no give, it’s much more difficult to try and manoeuvre it like you would with a silicone toy, and because of that I prefer not to try and thrust with this toy, I normally apply plenty – almost an excess – of lube, and use a gentle twisting motion or a slow slide in and out, and if I pull my legs back up to my chest while keeping them closed I’m able to feel the bumps of the dildo brushing against my clit as I use it, which is great for me. Overall I’ve found it’s better for a slower, more sensual motion than a more frantic thrust.

I don’t use this toy for clit stimulation as much as some of my other glass pretties because there’s no swirls or nodules going on – I still love it for sensory play, warming it up in hot water or putting it in the freezer for a few minutes and running it over my clit and labia is incredible, but I get much more internal use out of this, I don’t use it as a backup clit stimulator or for warmup. As the toy isn’t too weighty and you have the glass heart handle (keep a tissue or something handy – it gets slippery when wet and nearly impossible to keep a firm grip on), I can easily use a small wand or an external vibe – I like using my Muse with this piece, personally – with this without getting hand cramp if I feel like I need more clit stimulation going on.

Using this for anal play is an absolute dream. It’s slim and smooth, so ideal if you want a step up from larger anal beads or butt plugs with defined waists, and as glass can be used with any kind of lube you can use the thickest, most slippery silicone lube you like without any worry that you’re going to damage your toy. The flared base below the heart stops it from going too far and if you manage it, you’ll see how cute it looks with just the little heart poking out, just like a decorative plug!

Overall, I’d say that this toy is a great addition to my toybox and I find myself reaching for it fairly often. It ticks nearly all of my boxes – I love glass, it’s cute as hell, it’s well made, it’s super versatile, and, bonus – it comes with a storage container. I’d definitely recommend this toy to beginners and advanced users alike – I’d say it’d be especially perfect for people who may have used silicone dildos with a bit of texture and enjoyed them, and who are curious about trying glass for the first time.
